Moderating a Poster Session at UK Kidney Week 2023
If you are interested in becoming a Poster Moderator for UKKW 2023, please fill out the form here.
Prime time has been set aside in the programme for poster discussion.
There are two moderated poster sessions:
- Monday 5th June, 16:00 – 17:00
- Tuesday 6th June, 12:15 – 13:15
Each moderated poster session is one hour long. Each poster will have approximately 6 minutes for review, depending upon the number of posters in the group.
Poster sessions are designed to permit the author to explain and illustrate concepts, techniques, or research findings in a simple graphic manner that will promote understanding more readily than a "rapid fire" podium address. A small audience of interested individuals permits a one-to-one exchange of ideas with the author, providing quality feedback.
We are very keen that each poster presenter has an equal chance of presenting their work and has the opportunity for a few minutes of constructive discussion.
The main task as moderator is to encourage discussion, but curtail it if necessary, to ensure that the group moves from one poster to the next in time for all posters to be discussed.
The aim is to ensure that all authors are given constructive feedback and that those who attend the moderated poster presentation learn from it, and take ideas back with them when they return to work.
Moderators are also asked to evaluate the posters in their group following all of the presentations and award a single “Best Poster” certificate. Best Posters will be awarded to those presenters who have demonstrated robust methods, who deliver their key messages in a clear and engaging way, and/or who have made a difference to clinical practice, education, or research.
Poster Moderators may collect the Best Poster sign to attach to the winning poster board from the Registration Desk.
Please attach the recognition to the appropriate poster at the end of the moderated session, and then let someone on the Registration Desk know the number of the winning poster. The winning authors may collect their Best Poster certificates from the Registration Desk at the end of the day.
